Steve Andreas, originally named John O. Stevens, was a prominent figure in the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). His mother, Barry Stevens, was a well-known Gestalt therapist. Since 1977, he dedicated himself to teaching NLP, having been an early student of Richard Bandler and John Grinder. Alongside his wife, Connirae Andreas, he co-founded NLP Comprehensive—one of the first institutes dedicated to NLP training.

In 1967, Steve Andreas established Real People Press, a publishing house focused on producing high-quality personal development books. Through this venture, he and Connirae played a crucial role in editing and publishing some of the earliest and most influential NLP books, including:

  • Frogs into Princes – Neuro-Linguistic Programming by Richard Bandler and John Grinder (1979)
  • Trance-formations by Richard Bandler and John Grinder (1981)
  • Reframing by Richard Bandler and John Grinder (1982)
  • Using Your Brain for a Change by Richard Bandler (1985)

Together, Steve and Connirae Andreas also co-authored several foundational NLP books, such as:

  • Change Your Mind and Keep the Change (1987)
  • Heart of the Mind (1989)

In addition to his collaborative works, Steve Andreas wrote several influential books on NLP and personal transformation, including:

  • Transforming Your Self – Becoming Who You Want to Be, which explores self-concept change
  • NLP: The New Technology of Achievement (co-authored with Charles Faulkner, 1994)
  • Six Blind Elephants, Volume 1: Fundamental Principles of Scope and Category
  • Six Blind Elephants, Volume 2: Applications and Exploration of Scope and Category

Steve Andreas made significant contributions to NLP, shaping its development and application through both his teachings and publications. His work continues to impact the field of personal growth and transformation.
