Question:
Hi,
This might sound a bit unusual, but I’ve been wondering—if I use self-hypnosis and apply principles from the law of attraction, is it possible to influence other people’s emotions or decisions from a distance? Could I somehow shift external circumstances—things beyond my direct control—to work in my favor? Sort of like orchestrating my own version of a puppet show.
I know the idea seems intense, but I’d really appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks,
M
Answer:
Wouldn’t it be something if people around us acted exactly how we wanted, like characters in a game following our every command?
It might feel satisfying for a moment—like when you play a simulation game and your virtual villagers go off to collect resources just as you planned. But after a while, it gets predictable. What makes life meaningful and rich are the surprises, the differences, and the unexpected moments we share with real people.
Now, can we influence the world around us? To some extent, yes. Learning to communicate more effectively, understanding psychology, and developing emotional intelligence can absolutely help shape outcomes in our favor. But outright control over others’ emotions or decisions? That’s not how human interaction—or the unconscious mind—really works.
More importantly, here’s a question worth considering: Why do you want that level of control?
Is it to feel more secure? To gain power? To have love, recognition, or freedom?
Often, people chase something external, believing it will give them a specific emotional result. For example, someone might pursue wealth thinking it will bring freedom—when what they truly want is to spend more quality time with loved ones. In the process, they might earn money but miss the deeper experience they were seeking.
Instead of trying to control everything, a more powerful and lasting approach is to get very clear about what you actually want—and whether your goals are well-formed outcomes. When your intentions are aligned and purposeful, and when you focus on building skills and insight, you’re far more likely to influence your reality in meaningful and ethical ways.
So rather than trying to run a puppet show, perhaps you could co-create a story—one where you’re empowered, authentic, and free.
Let me know if you’d like help defining your real outcome more clearly.
